What is his problem......? In a town that struggles at times to attract tourists and shoppers like the other Cotswolds towns, this owner behaves in a unusual/ obnoxious .rude and ugly fashion. The crime......walking into his shop with a Cafe Nero coffee! He clearly has a major issue with the Cafe Nero company and anyone that uses this welcomed addition to the small and dated offering of shops in this town. The problem is he does not display a sign clearly visiable to potential shoppers.....he just is incredible rude or verbally attacks and grabs the coffee from the potential buyer and throws it in a bin in the street. This happened to my wife....yes..we have bought a number of items from him.... this week and left her speechless and outraged. He verbally abused her.....ranted about the company not paying taxes.....how she should support small shops selling coffee and threw her coffee in a bin.....and she was not alone as another women was standing next to her both in complete amazement at his pathetic and boorish behaviour. So I suggest anyone coming to Chipping Norton to go into the welcoming and friendly Cafe Nero....grab a coffee and then walk down the street to this shop and see for yourself the true colours of a man that has a local reputation for having an unpleasant streak and a nasty temper....and watch his blood boil. It might be amusing if enough do it.So as he clearly has a problem.....read earlier review from a year ago from a lady who had a similar experience.....maybe he will have the balls to either display his views on the cafe nero company in a balanced and sensible fashion or just close up and do us all a favour. And by calling my wife a Tw&t.......it clearly shows that the only one that really is one.....is this moron.
One of the most interesting shops in the Cotswolds, worth a visit
My partner and I have visited and bought from Cotswold Home and Garden for several years now. Over all this time, we have always been welcomed and treated well.Chris and Kate are really charming people who run a business that is always evolving , with new and different items everytime we visit. We have always enjoyed browsing the shop and have always received exceptional service. If you want to be inspired and seek an occasional bargain, this wonderful little shop is definitely worth a visit.
On Sunday June 5th my partner and I drove 20 miles to visit Cotswold Home and Garden Antique Shop in Chipping Norton. We have recently relocated to the Oxfordshire area and wanted to purchase items for our new unfurnished home. Sourcing antiques for our home is a real passion of ours, something we both enjoy. Unfortunately our experience was nothing but disappointing. On entering the shop we were approached by a man who was clearly annoyed by the fact that we had entered with take away coffee cups along with a snide remark about Cafe Nero! My partner and I was not expecting this kind of 'welcome'. We felt uncomfortable, apologised and left straight away. We have no objections to a business not wanting food or drink consumed on their premises. If we had seen a sign we would have respected it. If the person had asked nicely we would have respected his wishes. This man, who I presume is the owner was just plain rude to us, his lack of customer service was quite frankly shocking! We will not be returning.
