3rd visit to the Boxing Hare, as always consistently great food in a really nice setting. Well worth making the effort to visit if you can.
Great food, ambiance, and atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful. Never had a bad meal there. When the chef is the owner and wife front of house you know the they give their all to keep standards up and customers happy.
Absolutely LOVED IT! Not only is the food sublime, but the staff is simply genuine and funny and great! Would come again and again. Highly recommended !!
I want to move nearby so I can eat here weekly! We happened upon this place as we were staying a night nearby. The atmosphere is like a picture book with candles and cozy fires. My husband ordered the side house salad as a starter, which had tiny radishes and lovely greens. My mussels were the best Ive eaten in my life! The bivalves were small, plump, and perfectly cooked by he broth was silky with shallots, herbs, and white wine. And butter. My gawd we wanted to tip up the bowl and drink it all. For our mains, hubby had the pork cheeks that melted in the mouth and a side of heavenly layered gratin of potatoes. My quail was served with a sauce that had such flavor. We are still talking about this meal many days later.
Awesome and quirky!!!Visited with my husband and sister. Had heard good things about the place and we weren't disappointed. The Scottish/American lady who welcomed us was lovely!!! She was chatty, funny and really cookie, the kind of person who makes you want to come back. Our waiter (we think he may have been Spanish, was lovely also. Attentive, pleasant and very friendly.The menu was varied and offered a very different selection from anywhere in the area. We had sweet corn fritters, crab cocktail, followed by steak and burger and they were all delicious. They have a fabulous selection of wines and gin and whilst I volunteered myself as the designated driver on this occasion, I very much look forward to returning and enjoying some of the lovely gins in the lovely "fishbowl" glasses. Would recommend this place without hesitation, just make sure to book in order to avoid disappointment. Lovely quirky interior, shows good taste in decor. Defo be returning soon!!!!!
